It's been a while..

IMG_6060 copySo.. it's been a while. I think this has actually been the longest I've gone without posting SOMETHING here and it wasn't even an intentional break.. it just kind of happened. It's been so long that even typing this feels weird, granted I am on a moving train right now but still, the keyboard feels brand new. I would spin you the 'life got in the way' line but I've argued against that so many times in the past I know full well it's code for 'couldn't be bothered'. I HAVE been busy but I've always been busy to a degree and I used to post daily.. whether I had anything interesting to say or not.

At the start of the year I decided to be a little more relaxed about my blog/YouTube schedule, I had been so consistent for a long time that I felt a lot of pressure to stick to that schedule and it was taking the fun out of it all. I've posted considerably less in that time and entirely fallen back in love with making videos but I've felt less and less attached to my blog. I like the instant hit I get from chatting away on video, blogging feels like a much longer process for me and I've felt less and less enthusiastic about it over the last few months. I always have a bit of a reshuffle in September and try to shake things up for the new season after what is almost always a disappointing summer so I may rapidly change my tune in the next few weeks but right now I just don't love it in the way that I used to.

This week has been so busy, I don't attend many events or do exciting things other bloggers seem to (or is that my FOMO talking?) I'm usually just home and work with some blogging thrown in, I don't know how people juggle it all when they're out all day/night, I really don't! This journey home is the first proper down time I've had since Monday! I don't think I'm built for that life, I'm EXHAUSTED! I've done some really cool stuff though, met Caroline Hirons, Joan Collins (not sure which I was more excited about) attended a brand exhibition with Freedom (which is coming to Superdrug, I'm so excited for the new stuff to launch!) and a party at which Scott Mills Dj'd.. pretty cool! Today I was at a photo shoot for a small online campaign that will launch next year, I know this sounds very 'look how great my life is' but in reality I just felt awkward and out of place. We all have our comfort zones and I've pushed mine to the very limits recently. It's obviously exciting at times but at others it makes me realise I'm much happier on my sofa. I even drove to Birmingham and back which is kind of big deal since I'd never driven past Meadowhall previously (from Doncaster) ..scary times but glad I did it and now I might be that much happier to attempt a Christmas trip to the Trafford Centre ;)

Part of the reason I decided to take a step back in the new year was that it was my last one with Milo at home, I thought I would reassess when he went to nursery and potentially devote more time to everything then. Yesterday was his first day so that alone will change my routine up massively and potentially the next week or so might feel very different as I'll have much more quiet time in the house.. we'll see. I'm not saying I'm giving up altogether but there will probably be a decline in content from me here while I settle in to a new routine. I want to love it again and I'm hoping that blogging only when I'm 'feeling it' will make it exciting and new again much as it did for my YouTube channel. I have so many products I want to talk about and I think a good photo session with them all next week might pique my interest so watch this space but thanks for your patience in the mean time.. for now I can't wait to get a hot bath and go to bed!

PS. We may or may be getting a dog so if I get bored with lipstick this might just become a puppy blog, ha!
