The Power Of Plants

The Botanics range from Boots is frequently rated 4-5 stars online yet I feel it's frequently overlooked next to other skin care brands. Long time readers will know I am a huge fan of the All Bright range and have used the toner for years after discovering it gave me the same brightening results as the super popular Pixi Glow Tonic at a fraction of the price. Often however, the daily products we love don't get the same attention as the new and exciting and skin care is the most basic of steps but perhaps the most important. If your skin looks good everything you put on top of it will look even better and if you're a fan of heavier makeup you need to think more about the products you're using to remove it and what you might wear on your skin before applying that full coverage base.

The 'Hero' products from Boots Botanics would be a step in the right direction for anyone looking to add to their existing routine or perhaps those of you who have never really found your 3 step skin care groove. 1. All Bright Micellar 3-in-1 Cleansing Solution - A great alternative to face wipes for those of you (like me) who want quick cleansing at night or to freshen their skin before makeup application. As gentle as water this micellar solution will help to dissolve makeup and the natural AHAs from the Hibiscus flower will act as a gentle exfoliant to leave your skin looking smoother and brighter. This is a gentler alternative to the toner I mentioned and can also be used to remove eye makeup. I would suggest following up with a a heavier cleansing cream, oil or balm if you are removing long wearing foundation or spf.

IMG_8224Speaking of oils 2. Organic Facial Oil - Oils are something I was always scared of as my skin is already oily enough but as I get older I'm realising that not only the oil but the massage itself makes my skin glow like nothing else ever has. This one contains rosehip, the seeds of which are apparently rich in essential omega oils which help to improve suppleness, and I think we could all use that! This could be used as a heavier duty cleanse in a pinch but much more luxurious as a leave on treat. 3. Radiant Youth Super Serum - I don't tend to layer my skin care daily but if I feel I need an extra oomph I apply the serum/moisturiser first and then top up with oil. This serum contains Ginko plant extract which is full of antioxidants and helps to protect your skin from environmental stresses such as pollution to help keep it looking younger. It's proven to boost luminosity in just 2 weeks and as I like to wear less makeup at this time of year (she says as it rains outside) anything that can help my skin look better on its own is a winner for me.

A couple of my personal 'hero' products from Botanics would be the Radiance Balm - which I tend to wear on my no-makeup days to make my skin appear to be naturally glowing. The Hydrating Eye Serum - which I wear underneath makeup in the hope my concealer will not settle in to my fine lines, It's very light and absorbs quickly so great for this purpose. And finally the All Bright Night Cream which is just another step in the toner/micellar range that I love, it promotes surface renewal which for someone with acne scarring and hyper pigmentation from pergnancy is a huge plus. Over time my skin has become more even after using the toner regularly and the new addition of this night cream will only help to improve it further while hydrating my skin overnight. I'm always interested when speaking about one specific brand what you have tried and loved so leave me your recommendations/hits and misses from Botanics!
