Redken Extreme

You may or may not know that part of the reason I recently went darker recently was because of the breakage I suffered through bleach. It's quite severe, I have tufts around my hairline reminiscent of my post partum hair loss after having each of my children. I haven't quite developed bald spots yet but I feel certain that if I don't take action now that's where I'm heading. The hairline and parting are just about the worst place to have to hide breakage too but I'm taking various steps to help halt and prevent further damage. One such step was the purchase of the Extreme shampoo and Strength Builder mask from Redken. I'd heard a lot about the Anti Snap treatment and when I went online to purchase that I ended up getting these two full sized products and a sample of the anti snap for free. I'm not the worlds most consistent with styling products/treatments so I thought this was the better way to go, this way I will see how much I really do use of the product and hopefully do some longer lasting good to my hair via these other fortifying treatments.

A couple of things to note about the Extreme range, it smells like rose jam, not a scent I would have been able to identify had it not been for my recent dalliance with all thing rose jam from Lush. It started with Ro's Argan, it continued with the Bubbleroon (post to follow) and next stop is the shower gel, I just can't get enough of the fragrance and this stuff smells exactly like it to me. If you're not familiar don't let the 'rose' put you off.. it's not at all floral, it smells like the inside of a strawberry cream.. just yummy! Second, they are protein packed so overuse will lead to crispy, dry feeling hair. This isn't damage and it's not NOT doing it's job but you need to follow up with an oil or alternate a moisturising shampoo/conditioner to really feel the benefit without the crunch. Overall I definitely think these products combined are making a difference! If I run my hands through my wet hair I was losing clumps after every wash and I'm finding this less and less. I AM being more careful now and trying to let me hair dry 100% before combing through it at all but it's tough. I'm going to take some current photos of the breakage and start a little diary for those of you going through something similar (that sounds so dramatic but hey, crowing glory and all that) now or maybe finding this in the future so that I can hopefully help someone of you by sharing what worked/didn't work for me. I'm being positive here and assuming something will and that I haven't just developed alopecia or something but I'm pretty sure I could rock a variety of wigs if it comes to it.
