Spring Makeup Switches

What are the first changes you make once a new season rolls around? Aside from the candles I burn and the amount of time I spend under a blanket, the biggest changes I make are beauty related. Each new season feels like an excuse to shake up my makeup habit, clear out the cobwebs, re-organise and rediscover things that have been buried under my recent staples. In Spring I tend to reach for lighter (and warmer) bases, finer powders cream blush and glosses/balms over heavy liquid lips but honestly? This Winter I never really gave those up.I'm finding that the older I get, the more I crave that natural, less made up look. It's more flattering, there's less to settle in areas you'd rather not accentuate.. and it's all round easier to apply. With that in mind I'm at a bit of an impass as we head in to March because I'm itching for change but may well have already found my warm-weather kit.

Tarte Shape Tape FoundationI thought this would be awful. The concealer is so heavy and full coverage that I actually put off even opening the foundation for a while but it's a totally different animal. Hydrating with a beautiful, dewy finish and (although a beauty blender does give the best results if I can be bothered) it applies nicely with my hands/brush when I'm in a rush. It can settle if you go too heavy around the eyes/nose but so long as you blend it out, it's perfect. It's buildable in theory but for that reason, I tend to sheer it out to get the most flattering finish for me. Maybelline SnapScaraI have some before/after photos somewhere but where is anyone's guess. This was an impulse purchase but it's has some serious bang for its buck. Loads of volume and length. Whereas a few years ago I had just a handful of mascaras that I knew worked for me, recently I've been blown away my most I've tried and this was just another impressive formula. Benefit Roller Liner..in brown! This was sent to me and I have to tell you, I'd never have bought it. I brown liquid liner sounds like complete madness to me but it just works! The product itself is easy to apply, it doesn't last as long as they claim but it's comparable with the average  and they've even released minis! This is genius because I find that these liner pens dry out super fast so I'd definitely rather buy a new mini every couple of months than feel like I've wasted half a product in the full size. Dior Lip MaximiserA recent game changer and the only lip gloss I've ever spent big money on and thought immediately 'I will repurchase this'. It claims to work over time to make your lips appear more plump, I'm not sure how legit that is but someone asked if I'd had mine 'done' on insta stories last month and I was wearing this. Worth every penny. Josie Maran Cheek Gelee in Poppy ParadiseThis is one of my all time favourite cheek products and I'm not sure it's even available anymore. I know it's definitely not easy to get hold of in the UK but it's effectively a translucent, 'solid' gel blush and it gives the most beautiful flush in summer. I am on a mission to find a dupe for it this year!
I'm on a no buy for the month of March since historically I can get a little spendy the month before holiday so I'll be 'shopping my stash' and 'wishlisting' up a storm til I can splash some cash again. Probably for the best that I'm not desperate for a Spring switch up 'cause I'm supposed to be staying out of Boots til April!
