Super Furry Neutrals

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAJust when you thought Makeup Revolution couldn't think of anything else they covered a palette in fur. You heard me, fur. When I heard about it I was intrigued but when it arrived I HAVE to say.. the huge plastic, gemstone heart on the front totally ruined in for me. There was something really cheap looking about it and some might say that the fur was a step too far but that alone was a but funky, I thought. So when they launched the Black Velvet palette I was expecting much of the same BUT I think that the little tweaks made the world of difference. The velvet covering doesn't feel SO far out for makeup packaging and switching the heart to black made it look shinier and just 100% better, in my opinion. You might look at them and think they're exactly the same but in my weird mind they are night and day.

SO that's the packaging (which c'mon, we're all buying these things for - don't tell me you NEED another eyeshadow palette!) but given that it was a bit out there I was expecting something wild on the inside.. low and behold.. more neutrals. This will KILL some people as over the past 5 years we have seen pretty much every combination we need to from every brand but again I feel like there's a difference between the two here and the Black Velvet wins again. It's predominantly matte which always appeals to me and not bad at it either but it also has some more colourful variants to play with too.. particularly a beautiful, deep green/blue I can't WAIT to wear!

Some lovely shimmers and near metallics and a couple of mattes thrown in for balance as well as a very good black. Some very similar shades in the mix but on the whole a nice selection

Not as much pay off here because as I mentioned they are mostly matte but there's something about this I just prefer. I think the shades are just a little different than every other neutral palette and the vibrant jewel tones on the bottom row give you a little more choice.

As you know I'm a big fan of almost everything MUR put out there and yes we've seen similar things before but I love that they keep trying to make things new and exciting. Sometimes that means they'll miss (the plastic crystal heart!) but they're not afraid of thinking outside the box and rather than create one thing that appeals to the masses they create 50 that appeal to individuals.
